BIOGRAPHY

I'd like to tell you a little about myself. I was born in Detroit and reared during the Motown era (you know the 60's and the 70's). My father, Cornelius Washington, was quite an accomplished guitarist and vocalist. I guess some of that musical dust rubbed off on me.

Influenced by such notable groups as The Temptations, The Four Tops, The Spinners, The Jackson Five and many other artists of that era, I started on a singing and songwriting career of my own. Now, my favorite group at the time was, and still is, The Spinners. Needless to say, my lifelong dream was to sing with The Spinners. Guess what? In 2007 my dream became a reality. That year, at the NAACP Convention in front of a packed crowd, I audition for a lead position in The Spinners - and nail it. That's right! I'm talking standing ovation. The next 12 years were some of the best years of my musical career. I was living my dream. Although the group and I have recently parted ways, I've continued to write prolifically. As every musician knows - the musical journey never ends.

Soon after my departure, the world was hit with a devastating blow. The Worldwide Pandemic - COVID-19. This virus, in one way or another, has affected us all. But you see, it has affected me in a  very personal way.  I lost my daughter-in law, Elizabeth, to COVID-19 (MAY SHE REST IN PEACE). Through the personal pain of loss and the rising worldwide death toll, one thing became increasingly clear --- the unwavering and tireless efforts of THE FIRST RESPONDERS AND ESSENTIAL WORKERS. Can you imagine a world without them?  I can't. I asked myself, what can I do to let them know that they're appreciated. This, is what motivated me to write this song (WE WANNA THANK YOU). I want to share this song (demo) with you, and if you like it please purchase and share.

A portion of the proceeds will go toward a fund to support the First Responders, Essential Workers and their families.
